Palmdale – Today Palmdale Assembly candidate Steve Knight announced he signed the Americans for Tax Reform Pledge -- vowing to oppose tax increases as a California State Assemblyman.
Since 1986, Americans for Tax Reform has sponsored the Taxpayer Protection Pledge a written promise by legislators and candidates for office that commits them to oppose any effort to increase income taxes on individuals and businesses.
“Signing this no tax pledge is simple for me. As a City Councilman I have a record that clearly shows fiscal responsibility with taxpayer’s money, I want to bring the same fiscal responsibility to the taxpayers of California. I won’t support any tax increases on California’s taxpayers period,” said Steve Knight.
Assemblywoman Sharon Runner offered her encouragement for Steve Knight signing the no tax pledge saying, “Steve Knight is committed to a fiscally responsible government. His willingness to sign the no tax pledge proves that he is committed to keeping our state budget balanced. The taxpayers of our district can know that when Steve Knight is elected to the Assembly he will protect our finances."
Steve Knight is running to replace Assemblywoman Sharon Runner for the 36th Assembly District. The district includes the cities of Palmdale, Lancaster, Victorville and Adelanto. Assemblywoman Runner is prohibited from seeking re-election due to term limits. In addition to being a Palmdale City Councilman, Knight is a Los Angeles Police Officer with more than 16 years of service. He lives in Palmdale with his wife and two sons.
